MISSING: Princella Eppes

Princella “Ladybird” Eppes was a young woman as unique as her name. The second of four children, Princella, was a creative spirit from early on, but her nickname “Ladybird” was a gift given to her by her mom shortly after she was born—just one more thing that made Princella an authentic one-of-a-kind. As a child, writing came to her easily. When she wasn’t writing poetry, she was reading it. When she wasn’t reading it, she was talking about it. And she quickly added journaling, scrapbooking, and drawing to her skillset. It was apparent to everyone who knew her that she was an artist through and through.

It's easy to understand why so many people gravitated toward Princella. She had a big imagination and an equally magnetic spirit that made others want to be around her. Her sister, Kim, described her as “outgoing and energetic.” She was the glue that kept her family together. In the Eppes family, Princella was the “defender and protector” of her siblings. When trouble came calling, she was there to stand strong and bully the bullies.

But at the young age of twenty-two, a kind of trouble found Princella that she wasn’t able to escape. On July 9th, 1990, she was found on her bed in her new studio apartment with a gunshot wound to the head. The Eppes family was devastated. Their Ladybird was gone. “The world got a little darker,” her sister Kim said. “Here is someone full of love and life, and at twenty-two, her life was taken.”

So, what happened to Princella Eppes? Who could have done something so cruel and uncaring to a person that so many people loved and admired? Will the Eppes family ever find out what happened to their Ladybird?
