MURDERED: Nikole Bakoles
In October of 2003, Nancie Bakoles reported her 20-year-old daughter, Niki, missing to authorities in Midvale, Utah. She’d last spoken to her daughter more than three years prior, while Niki was battling drug addiction and had just lost custody of her baby girl. It wasn’t abnormal for Niki to go silent, but even a PI hired by the family couldn’t track her down.
For eight more years, the Bakoles searched for Niki to no avail, until Nancie saw the facial reconstruction of an unidentified set of remains, referred to as Saltair Sally, found in Utah in 2000, just months after she’d last spoken to Niki. DNA tests confirmed that Saltair Sally was Niki Bakoles, and detectives believed that she’d been murdered.
