MURDERED: Kevin Clewer
On the night of March 23, 2004, openly gay Kevin Clewer went out barhopping near his apartment. While out, Kevin met a man who said his name was Fernando. Kevin and Fernando left the bar together and went back to Kevin’s place.
The next day, Kevin didn’t show up for work. So, Kevin’s dad went to his apartment to check on him and found Kevin dead. He’d been stabbed over 40 times.
Police have tried to locate Fernando who is a person of interest but have been unsuccessful.
In one year’s time, Kevin’s death was the second of three murders of gay men in the same area of Chicago. Residents started to worry there was a serial killer on the loose.
In the end, the other two murders were solved and ended up being unrelated. Kevin’s murder remains the only one unsolved.
